Broadcast Media Communications Commission unveils AI production cases used for action scenes, subtitles and audio description

South Korea\'s Broadcast Media Communications Commission held a seminar in Seoul on Thursday with the Korea Radio Promotion Association to share AI use in broadcasting production and services. Speakers presented an AI-made action sequence for an SBS drama and generative AI use in an MBC variety show. Broadcasters also introduced AI subtitles and audio description for sports coverage, AI voice for radio news, and automation tools for video editing and graphics work.

MSIT holds Virtual Convergence Academy showcase for AI, XR projects

South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT is moving to train talent for the next-generation virtual convergence industry using AI and extended reality technologies. It held a showcase for the fifth cohort of its Virtual Convergence Technology Academy in Pangyo, Seongnam. The ministry said 82 people completed courses this year. It awarded prizes to 4 teams and held a recruiting consultation event joined by 9 companies including Roblox and Upstage.

MSIT breaks ground on Songpa ICT security cluster to concentrate radio wave and information security agencies

South Korea will develop the Central Radio Management Office site in Seoul’s Songpa district into an ICT security cluster bringing together radio wave and information security agencies and private facilities. The Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Asset Management Corp held a groundbreaking ceremony for the project’s first phase on Aug. 25. Phase one will build a new Central Radio Management Office building and a radio wave testing facility, with completion targeted for the first half of 2029.
