Viva Republica, the operator of Toss, is donating network equipment it used to run its services for ICT education and will also support practical lectures and mentoring by working engineers.

Toss said on Thursday it will donate about 60 network devices for ICT education to the Korea Radio Promotion Association (RAPA).

The donation covers network equipment that has completed its use in Toss' service operating environment. The equipment is no longer suitable for operations, including because the manufacturer's technical support has ended, but Toss will select devices that can be used for hands-on training and deliver them.

Toss completed information security measures before the donation, including deleting stored configuration information through destruction procedures.

The donated equipment will be used in ICT talent development training courses run by the Korea Radio Promotion Association.

The two organisations will also expand education cooperation alongside the equipment donation. Toss decided to push ahead with practical lectures and mentoring involving working engineers. It plans to provide trainees with actual service operating experience and information on jobs in the network field.

An official at the Korea Radio Promotion Association said network equipment is essential for practical training but is often difficult to secure because of high prices. The official said the donation has helped create a training environment where students can build practical capabilities.

A Toss official said it is also meaningful as an ESG activity that puts both resource circulation and ICT talent development into practice. The official said it plans to continue education support, including mentoring by working professionals, in line with demand.
