The Korea Cable TV Broadcasting Association said on June 19 it will open and operate an "artificial intelligence (AI) practical skills enhancement course" for employees of member companies together with the Korea Radio Promotion Association (RAPA). The programme will be carried out with support from the Broadcasting and Communications Development Fund of the Broadcasting Media Communications Committee.

The course will be held at RAPA in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul. It will be split into a basic course, running for 3 days from June 23 to 25, and an advanced course, running for 3 days from July 22 to 24.

The training focuses on integrating generative AI into the broadcasting content production process. Participants will practise producing visualisation videos for news coverage, information programme clips and YouTube Shorts using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Midjourney and Kling AI.

They will also learn workflows such as implementing details to minimise differences from existing footage and maintaining character and space consistency. Lawyer Sang-ho Lee (이상호) of Woongbin Law Firm will deliver a special lecture on AI media legal practice and managing content copyright and intellectual property rights (IP).

Instructors for the workshop include Lee Sang-wook of MBC C&I, Tae-soo Lim, Jin-young Jang and Jong-won Ryu of YTN.

Hee-man Hwang (황희만), president of the Korea Cable TV Broadcasting Association, said, "When we ourselves take the lead in driving change first, new possibilities will open." He added, "I hope this training becomes the first step of a leap forward that opens the next chapter for the cable industry."
