South Korea's Broadcast Media Telecommunications Commission and the Korea Radio Promotion Association will provide a total of 8.5 billion won in support for the creator media industry this year, they said on Tuesday.
The support will be provided in four areas: fostering startups, training core talent, promoting overseas expansion and building a stable growth base.
Under the startup fostering programme, it will recruit tenant companies for the creator media complex in Magok, Seoul. It will select 4 companies in the first half and 8 in the second half, supporting office space, studios and corporate growth training.
To train core talent, it will run a programme to foster full-time creators that provides tailored support for 60 teams of creators at the growth stage, and a new-occupation training programme based on on-site training.
For overseas expansion, it will offer a content production support programme that provides up to 60 million won per project for production and promotion costs, and a programme supporting participation in global exhibitions.
To build a stable growth base, it will hold the Creator Media Expo on Aug. 28 to 29 at COEX Magok in Seoul. The event, which has recorded a cumulative 3,560,000 visitors, will be held for the eighth time this year.
Kim Jong-cheol (김종철), chairman of the Broadcast Media Telecommunications Commission, said, "We will expand policy support so that the creator media industry can grow in a stable way."
