Battery data becomes shield as recourse claims open in EV fire compensation

South Korea began an \"EV Fire Peace-of-Mind Insurance\" scheme in July that compensates damage before the cause is determined. Policy terms allow insurers to seek recourse from vehicle owners or drivers, manufacturers including parts makers, importers, charging-facility owners or managers, or other liable third parties once fault is confirmed. Battery makers are excluded from insured parties and premiums, but can face claims if defects are found or if losses exceed coverage limits.

Hyundai Motor design patent for \'Boulder\' off-road SUV revealed in India

A design patent for Hyundai Motor\'s off-road sport utility vehicle has been revealed, drawing attention to the possibility of an electric SUV launch. The patent, disclosed via India\'s patent office, closely resembles the Boulder concept shown this year at the New York auto show. Some elements were changed for production feasibility, including a mostly closed grille and slimmer LED headlamps. Hyundai has not disclosed production plans or powertrain details.

KT pushes commercialisation of remote driving technology with Kia and SUM

KT said it signed an agreement with Kia and autonomous driving technology company SUM at Kia\'s Yangjae headquarters to push the commercialisation of remote driving technology. The partners aim to set up an operating framework to deliver the technology as a service and to identify business models for use in the private and public sectors. They plan work on service operations, data analysis, technology upgrades, exhibitions and legal and institutional groundwork.
