AXZ changes name to Daum, steps up shift to AI portal

AXZ, the operator of the Daum portal service, said on July 27 it will change its corporate name to Daum. The company approved the change at an extraordinary shareholders meeting held on July 20 to align its corporate identity with its main service and strengthen communication with users and partners. It said service usage and member accounts will remain unchanged. Daum plans to revamp its website and channels and build a next-generation AI-based portal.

Upstage to provide Daum AI Summary based on Solar and Renegade

Upstage will provide the Daum portal’s AI Summary service, operated by its subsidiary AXZ, using its Solar large language model and FuriosaAI’s Renegade neural processing unit. At a meeting, executives from the three companies called it the first case linking AI infrastructure, models and services with domestic technology. AXZ said AI Summary handles 20 percent of total queries and plans to expand into vertical services. FuriosaAI said the NPU cuts inference costs by more than 50 percent.

Woori Financial opens 15th Goodwill store to expand jobs for people with developmental disabilities

Woori Financial Group\'s Woori Financial Future Foundation has opened an additional Goodwill store, a retail outlet that supports independence for people with developmental disabilities. The foundation said it opened its 15th store, the Millal Singil branch, in Seoul\'s Yeongdeungpo district with the Millal Welfare Foundation. The group aims to build 100 stores nationwide by 2034, investing 30 billion won to provide jobs for 1,500 people.
