ITCen CTS builds supercomputer for KAERI V-SMR development
ITCen CTS said on Monday it has completed the introduction and system build-out of a large GPU cluster platform for the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute’s project to build a supercomputer for development of a virtual reactor platform for SMRs. The project is part of the government’s Global TOP strategic research group programme and involves KAERI, KISTI and ETRI. It will be carried out in stages through 2029.

South Korea opens HPC infrastructure in Indonesia, builds 4.2 PF supercomputer
South Korea has built high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructure in Indonesia that can be used to train large-scale artificial intelligence models and analyse massive datasets. The Ministry of Science and ICT and the foreign ministry said an opening ceremony was held for the facility built by KISTI and Indonesia’s National Research and Innovation Agency under a Korea-ASEAN digital cooperation project. The programme runs from 2024 to 2028 with $10 million in funding.

Korea science ministry to use AI in R&D budget review
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT will use an AI system tailored to budget reviews for allocating and adjusting national R&D spending from this year. Named \"Yeon-ye-in\", the system is designed to shift reviews to a data-based approach and improve efficiency and expertise. Built with KISTI and ETRI, it was trained on about 5,000 project documents and will link to NTIS research output data.
