Five trends to watch in the future of AI data centers
As AI spreads rapidly across daily life and business, the need for energy-efficient and environmentally sustainable AI data centres is growing. IDC forecasts 22 percent annual growth in the Asia-Pacific data centre market excluding Japan from 2024 to 2029, driven by surging AI, cloud and digital services demand. Vertiv’s latest report highlights five trends: advanced power infrastructure, more distributed AI, faster energy strategies including on-site generation, wider use of digital twins and evolving adaptive liquid cooling.

Meritz Securities MTS down again
Concerns over unstable access to Meritz Securities\' mobile trading system flared again after online posts said logins failed from around 2:10 a.m. on April 29. Some investors wrote that they could not log in, could not sell and had difficulty reaching the firm by phone, during U.S. stock trading hours. Investors protested what they described as repeated IT problems. The firm has previously cited system errors and pledged additional IT investment.

Sherpa Soft acquires SMT Information Technology to boost synergy in DB performance management
Sherpa Soft, a database performance management company, said on Sunday it signed an agreement to acquire management control of SMT Information Technology to strengthen its public sector business. The deal aims to combine Sherpa Soft’s database performance monitoring capabilities with SMT Information Technology’s strengths in public sector system integration maintenance and software development and supply. Sherpa Soft develops the Sherpa monitoring solution for commercial, open-source and cloud databases.
