Hana Financial Group has completed construction of its "Cheongna Group Headquarters" in Incheon’s Cheongna International City and has begun moving affiliates, ahead of the opening of a full-scale "Cheongna era."

Hana Financial said on Wednesday that the Cheongna Group Headquarters completed construction on May 21 and it plans to deploy about 2,200 employees from 10 affiliates, including Hana Financial Group and Hana Bank, in phases starting in September.

The Cheongna Group Headquarters has 7 basement floors and 15 above-ground floors, with a total floor area of 128,503 square metres. From September, total financial staff working in Cheongna will reach about 4,000 including existing personnel already based there.

The relocation is the final stage of the Hana Dream Town project that Hana Financial has pursued since 2012. It previously built an integrated data centre in Cheongna in 2017 that consolidated group IT infrastructure, and opened the Hana Global Campus, a facility to develop global financial talent, in 2019.

◆Implementing group-level strategy and strengthening affiliate ties

Hana Financial plans to use the relocation to strengthen cooperation among affiliates.

Staff from 10 affiliates will move into the Cheongna Group Headquarters: Hana Financial Group, Hana Bank, Hana Securities, Hana Card, Hana Capital, Hana Life, Hana Savings Bank, Hana Fund Services, Hana F&I and Hana Financial TI.

It aims in particular to accelerate digital transformation by linking with about 1,800 staff at the group’s integrated data centre already based in Cheongna and at IT affiliate Hana Financial TI.

Hana Financial plans to strengthen new business capabilities in areas including AX, data and stablecoins through collaboration between affiliates and the Hana Financial Convergence Technology Institute, an AI and data organisation under Hana Financial TI.

Hana Financial plans to use the move to reallocate organisations that had been dispersed across several areas, including its Myeong-dong building in Seoul, and to increase decision-making speed and work collaboration efficiency. It expects group-level strategy execution and links among affiliates to strengthen as the holding company and key affiliates gather in one space.

It will also expand ties with the local community. Hana Financial plans to open the Cheongna Group Headquarters to local residents and to pursue steps including launching tailored products for local governments and public institutions in Incheon, linking public services, providing financial support for small and micro businesses based in Incheon, and supporting cultural and sports events for underprivileged groups.

It will also work to improve the working environment for employees. Hana Financial plans to improve commuting convenience by securing parking space and assigning shuttle buses at major hubs in the Seoul metropolitan area, while establishing various workspaces and infrastructure to stabilise operations in Cheongna.

Hana Financial Chairman Young-ju Ham (함영주) said the headquarters relocation will be more than a simple shift of space and will serve as a chance to further accelerate a major transition that innovates the way people work and the culture. He said the group will successfully complete a major financial transition encompassing all stakeholders, including customers, the local community and employees, and will chart a new 100-year history for the group.
