EcoPro BM ships first cathode materials to European OEM from Hungary plant
EcoPro BM has shipped high-nickel NCA cathode materials for the first time from its plant in Debrecen, Hungary, for supply to a European automaker OEM, the company said on Tuesday. Executives including CEO Moon-ho Choi attended the shipment ceremony. The complex houses several affiliates and has annual cathode capacity of 54,000 tons across three lines. EcoPro BM plans additional supply to other global OEMs this year and may consider building a second plant.

Ecopro Innovation signs 4-year lithium hydroxide supply deal with global automaker
Ecopro Innovation said on Thursday it signed a long-term lithium hydroxide supply contract with a global automaker. The company will supply a total of 12,000 tonnes over four years, equivalent to about 200,000 electric vehicles. It said this is its first lithium hydroxide supply deal with an automaker, following earlier long-term contracts with Samsung SDI in 2024 and SK On in 2025. The company cited its Hungary production base and closed-loop system as positives.

Xpeng in talks to acquire Volkswagen Europe plant as exports jump 62 percent
Chinese electric vehicle maker Xpeng is discussing a plant acquisition with Volkswagen to secure a production base in Europe, as capacity at its contract manufacturing line in Austria tightens. Xpeng produced G6 and G9 models for Europe at Magna Steyr in Austria and completed trial production of the 2026 P7+ sedan in January. Xpeng\'s April overseas exports rose 62 percent from a year earlier. Volkswagen is pursuing cuts to excess capacity in Europe and is considering transferring some capacity to Chinese partners.
