Samsung, government launch job training programme for unemployed youth outside capital

Samsung has launched a job training programme for unemployed young people outside the Seoul metropolitan area, linked to the government’s youth employment project. Samsung Welfare Foundation held an opening ceremony in Daejeon for 550 trainees from four regional areas. The programme is part of the Ministry of Employment and Labor’s K-New Deal Academy initiative and combines Samsung’s prior programme experience with affiliate training infrastructure. Courses cover six job fields and include certification and career support.

Regional financial groups slip in H1 results as BNK-JB merger talks collapse

Three region-based South Korean financial holding firms posted weaker combined first-half results as declines at BNK Financial Group and iM Financial Holding outweighed gains at JB Financial Group. Their combined controlling-stake net profit fell 5.4 percent to 1.0931 trillion won. The gap versus the four major financial groups widened as their combined profit rose to 11.3392 trillion won. BNK and JB also rejected reviewing a merger proposed by Align Partners.

Hana Bank to support store refurbishments, AI training for 3,500 small businesses

Hana Bank will support 3,500 small business sites with store environment improvement costs and artificial intelligence education and consulting. The bank said on Wednesday it has opened a second round of applications for its Small Business Competitiveness Enhancement Support programme, with applications accepted through Aug. 11. It will select 2,000 sites for refurbishment support and 1,500 for AI capability building, including training and tailored on-site consulting.
