LG Uplus said on Tuesday it will operate a "mobile store" that visits remote island and mountain areas and digitally vulnerable groups who find it difficult to travel, providing telecom consultations and digital education.
The company said the mobile store is a Hyundai Solati vehicle converted into a space where customers can receive consultations and training. It was set up so customers can use telecom services and digital education even in areas without fixed stores.
Inside the vehicle are areas for customer consultations, monitors and storage space for information materials. Outside, it can install an awning, tables, chairs and standing signboards, allowing consultation and waiting areas to be configured depending on site conditions.
One vehicle will be deployed each in the Yeongnam and Honam regions. Three employees will form a team for each vehicle and are expected to visit remote island and mountain areas, small cities without stores and areas with large elderly populations. On site, the service will provide USIM replacements, consultations on household and mobile phone telecom bills, smartphone training and education on preventing voice phishing.
LG Uplus also plans to provide guidance on how to use digital devices and services safely.
Jung Chul (정철), head of LG Uplus' Consumer Sales Group and an executive director, said the mobile store is a new customer touchpoint that moves beyond the existing method of customers coming to stores and instead goes directly to areas and sites where telecom services are needed. He said the company will expand field-focused activities so customers can conveniently access the consultations and digital education they need regardless of region or age.
