China cost and yield race in synthetic graphite draws battery anode material supply away from South Korea

Demand for electric-vehicle battery anode materials outside China is rising, but supply remains concentrated among Chinese companies, the article said. Anthropic launches OT security support program, releases free open-source vulnerability scanner

Anthropic has started a program to support security companies protecting critical infrastructure such as power grids and water facilities, SiliconANGLE reported on Oct. 8. The initiative, called the Critical Infrastructure Defense Program, has 11 founding partners including consulting firms and security companies, as well as manufacturers. Anthropic also released a free OSS Scanner to check open-source project vulnerabilities, while noting possible errors. The company said defenders may benefit within two years.

U.S. open-weight AI model startup Arsi AI tops $1 billion valuation

U.S. startup Arsi AI, which develops open-weight AI models, has raised Series B funding at a valuation of about $1 billion, SiliconANGLE reported on Sept. 17. The funding amount was not disclosed, but Fortune said the round was worth at least $150 million. Vista Equity Partners, Cambium Capital and Emergence Capital led the investment, with A10 Ventures, Hitachi, IAG, Microsoft M12, P7 and Wipro also participating.
