KakaoPay to donate up to 1.5 billion won if 50 billion steps are reached to support small merchants

KakaoPay is launching a marathon campaign that raises donations to support small merchants based on users\' cumulative step counts. The company set a target of 50 billion steps this year and plans to donate up to 1.5 billion won depending on progress. The online event runs for 30 days from Oct. 20 to Nov. 18 and is free to join via KakaoPay\'s pedometer service. An offline marathon will be held on Nov. 28 in Hanam.

Woori Financial opens Goodwill Store in Cheongju\'s Heungdeok to expand jobs for people with developmental disabilities

Woori Financial Group opened its second Goodwill Store workplace for people with developmental disabilities in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province. The new Milal Cheongju Heungdeok branch opened about a year after the Cheongju Sangdang branch. Woori Financial Future Foundation said it held an opening ceremony on Oct. 15. The store is the 18th nationwide backed by Woori. The group is also running donation drives through collection boxes at branches and an October campaign on its WooriWON Banking app.

Dell Technologies builds new backup infrastructure for IBK Industrial Bank of Korea to strengthen cyber resilience

Dell Technologies said on Monday it helped IBK Industrial Bank of Korea build a new backup infrastructure at its Hanam data centre using Dell solutions. The bank upgraded its existing backup environment and implemented a cyber resilience framework to restore operations during ransomware attacks, other cyber threats and disasters. It adopted Dell PowerProtect Data Domain appliances and Dell PowerProtect Cyber Recovery and Dell NetWorker, applying air-gap and retention lock technologies and adding EMP-protection racks at a data distribution centre.
