[Digital Today reporter Ji-young Lee] Woori Financial Group's Woori Financial Future Foundation opened the 'Goodwill Store Milal Sinyoungtong' branch in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, a shop that supports self-reliance for people with developmental disabilities.

The Woori Financial Future Foundation said on May 31 it opened the Goodwill Store Milal Sinyoungtong branch in Hwaseong with the Miral Welfare Foundation on May 29.

Goodwill Store is a workplace for people with disabilities that sells items donated by companies and individuals and uses the proceeds to employ people with developmental disabilities. The Milal Sinyoungtong branch that opened this time is the 14th store jointly built by Woori Financial and the Miral Welfare Foundation.

Woori Financial opened Goodwill Stores last year in Ulsan, Daegu and Cheongju, among other cities, to broaden employment opportunities for people with developmental disabilities living outside the capital region. It also launched in Yeoju, Gyeonggi Province, a social contribution-type outlet called a 'Goodwill Branch' that combines a Woori Bank branch with a Goodwill Store.

This year, starting with Hwaseong, it plans to expand Goodwill Stores sequentially to Hanam and Jeonju, among other cities. Woori Financial is pursuing a goal of supporting a total of 30 billion won through 2034 to build 100 Goodwill Store outlets nationwide and provide stable jobs to 1,500 people with developmental disabilities.

Shin Geon-woo (신건우), an assistant manager at the Woori Financial Future Foundation, said, "I find it meaningful that we can provide stable jobs to people with developmental disabilities in the Gyeonggi region." He said, "We will support them so they can become self-reliant as healthy members of their local communities."
