Bitcoin, gold rank among worst-performing assets in 2026, trailing cash
Bitcoin and gold have recorded among the weakest returns of major asset classes in 2026, with both posting negative performance. Since the start of the year, gold has fallen 7.5 percent and bitcoin 7.3 percent. The comparison is based on asset performance tracked by Creative Planning chief market strategist Charlie Bilello. While recent results are weak, bitcoin has returned an annualised 120.6 percent since 2011, versus 6.3 percent for gold. Rankings could still change before year-end.

Peter Schiff says bitcoin has finally started to collapse
Investor Peter Schiff said bitcoin could fall further to $75,000 after it slipped below $80,000. He warned losses could widen if the $75,000 level breaks and said investors could face a long weekend. Schiff also pointed to limits on U.S.-listed spot bitcoin ETF investors, who cannot trade while U.S. markets are closed. Bitcoin fell to $79,226 at one point, while liquidations across the crypto market rose.

Necta Group raises $5 million seed funding for HoneyB bitcoin yield platform
Necta Group, which develops the HoneyB bitcoin yield platform, has raised $5 million in a seed funding round. The Block reported that Portal Ventures led the investment, joined by Pier Venture Partners, Anchorage Digital Ventures, family offices and angel investors. Necta Group received the investment through a SAFE structure with token warrants on a one-to-one basis. HoneyB lets bitcoin holders borrow stablecoins against bitcoin and invest in assets including U.S. Treasuries.
