Older Google model beats latest GPT and Claude in skin cancer test

Latest general-purpose AI models recorded lower accuracy than Google’s Inception v3 image recognition model released in 2016 in a skin lesion diagnosis experiment. Researchers compared GPT-6 Astra, Claude Fable 5.1 and Inception v3 using 200 lesion images split between cases needing treatment and those requiring no action. Inception v3 led overall and in melanoma identification. The study said differing training conditions limited interpretation and larger validation and safety assessments are needed for clinical use.

MSIT seeks to ease rising telecom bills from AI and OTT subscriptions with AI for All

South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT said it will try to ease household communications costs rising with AI and online video subscriptions by launching a free, general-purpose AI service called \"AI for All\" from December. Vice Prime Minister and Minister Bae Kyung-hoon made the remarks during a parliamentary audit after a lawmaker said bundled mobile plans and subscriptions were limiting savings. The ministry also pledged cooperation in a Coupang privacy case and support for expanding 5G-based subway WiFi nationwide.

Nationwide \'Everyone\'s AI\' to face first test on Oct. 16 with SKT, KT and Kakao

South Korea\'s government-backed AI service project \'Everyone\'s AI\' faces its first test on Oct. 16, with closed betas to be run by consortia led by SK Telecom, KT and Kakao. The Ministry of Science and ICT plans to review development progress and operating methods. The project aims to provide AI services based on domestic models for all citizens, with a formal launch targeted for December and a free general-purpose chatbot without usage limits.
