South Korea draws up nanotechnology master plan, upgrades national strategic technology framework

The South Korean government will step up its next-generation science and technology strategy by drawing up a comprehensive nanotechnology research plan every five years. The National Science and Technology Advisory Council reviewed and approved the sixth nanotechnology master plan for 2026 to 2035 and a plan to upgrade the national strategic technology framework. The government also derived 55 “NEXT national strategic technologies” and plans to invest 60 trillion won in strategic technologies over the next five years.

Korea Exchange says KOSPI hits record high on strong semiconductor outlook and improving foreign flows

South Korea\'s KOSPI ended on April 21 at 6,388.47, surpassing its previous record close set on Feb. 26, and also topped the prior intraday high. Market capitalisation rose to a record 5,236.2 trillion won. The Korea Exchange said the index rebounded in April on expectations for semiconductor results and improved foreign investor flows, supported by expanding global AI memory demand. Foreigners and institutions were net buyers on the day.

65 percent of firms consider adopting AI recruiting agents, JobKorea survey finds

About 65 percent of companies have already applied artificial intelligence recruiting agents or are reviewing their adoption, a survey by AI and data-based HR tech platform JobKorea found. The poll of 1,286 corporate recruitment officials also showed firms spend the most time on candidate search and sourcing, followed by reviewing and evaluating applicants. Respondents most wanted AI to recommend suitable talent and automate job postings, and expected shorter hiring times and more automation.
