Jung Yong-jin to take CEO roles at E-Mart and Shinsegae Property as registered director

Shinsegae Group Chairman Jung Yong-jin (정용진) will directly lead two key affiliates, E-Mart and Shinsegae Property, the group said on June 8. Shinsegae Property will recommend Jung as a registered director and complete his appointment through a shareholders meeting and a board vote. E-Mart plans to name him a co-CEO and confirm the appointment at next year’s shareholders meeting. Jung said he would accept clear accountability and be evaluated by the board and shareholders.

LG Uplus to offer budget mobile plan and activation consultations at E-Mart

LG Uplus is opening Alttulphone Plus stores in E-Mart to expand offline customer access for its budget mobile offerings. The dedicated shops provide guidance on budget mobile plans and activation consultations, along with services such as plan changes, temporary suspensions, ownership transfers and loss reporting. The stores operate at 9 locations nationwide, including 5 in the Seoul metropolitan area. Customers can sign up for 5 dedicated plans and receive a 10,000 won Shinsegae gift certificate and a free SIM or eSIM.

Shinsegae Group pushes retail AI innovation with Reflection AI, halts OpenAI talks

Shinsegae Group is pursuing a project with U.S. artificial intelligence firm Reflection AI to apply AI across retail operations such as product sourcing, inventory management and customer management. The group said it is accelerating an advanced AI retail innovation drive and last month agreed via an MOU in San Francisco to build and jointly operate an AI data centre. It said E-Mart will be the first to roll out the AI-based retail initiative, and it will halt collaboration talks with OpenAI.
