South Korea selects 4 third-phase materials, parts and equipment specialised clusters, to provide 160 billion won over 5 years

South Korea has designated four new specialised clusters for the materials, parts and equipment industry to respond to supply chain reshuffling. The Industry Ministry selected South Gyeongsang for shipbuilding, Daejeon for defence, and North Jeolla and South Chungcheong for semiconductors. Private investment totals 7.7 trillion won, including 4 trillion won from demand companies. The government plans to provide 160 billion won over five years for R&D, infrastructure and workforce training.

Baemin builds reusable container washing centre with Cheonan, expands in Chungcheong

Woowa Brothers, which operates Baedal Minjok (Baemin), will build a \"smart washing centre\" in Cheonan, South Chungcheong province, and start a reusable-container delivery service, it said on Thursday. The centre is part of a smart-city hub project joined by Baemin from 2024. The infrastructure manages washing, inspection and tracking with IT, while eco-friendly startup Itgreen will run operations, including QR-based returns and collection.

LG to use Nvidia AI for humanoid, to unveil bipedal robot in 2027 Q1

LG will integrate Nvidia artificial intelligence technology into its humanoid robot development and plans to unveil a next-generation bipedal humanoid in the first quarter of next year. The companies signed a memorandum of understanding at Nvidia headquarters in Santa Clara, California. The robot will use Nvidia’s Jetson Thor along with Isaac GR00T and the Halos for Robotics safety system. The partnership also covers robot data and AI factory projects, plus mobility platforms based on Nvidia Drive Hyperion.
