AI model lightweighting technology company Nota said on Sunday it will participate as a core technology company in the Cheonan-Asan consortium for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's "AI specialised pilot city" tender project.

The AI specialised pilot city is a large-scale national project that goes beyond the limits of existing smart city data isolation, with AI converting city data into knowledge assets and autonomously managing citizens' daily lives. The project will be 추진되 from this year through 2030 for five years, with a total budget of 610.9 billion won.

The Cheonan-Asan consortium plans to demonstrate autonomous AI agent services in disaster, transport and civil complaint areas, based on an integrated urban intelligence centre and a digital twin platform. Nota will be responsible for edge AI lightweighting and on-device AI application technologies to run AI services in urban field settings reliably on real infrastructure.

Specifically, Nota will lightweight and optimise AI models used in urban field settings such as transport, safety, weather, disasters and the environment to suit various edge environments. It also plans to implement a structure in which AI recognises, summarises and disseminates city situations by combining a large language model-based automatic reporting system with on-device AI technology.

The Cheonan-Asan consortium will build an independent AI system specialised for local data based on Upstage's Korean-language specialised language model. Nota will provide lightweighting and optimisation technology so the AI services can run reliably on edge infrastructure and devices in city field settings.

Chae Myung-soo (채명수), Nota's CEO, said, "Based on AI model optimisation and on-device AI technology, we will play a key role in helping the Cheonan-Asan AI specialised pilot city establish itself as a representative case of a K-AI city in South Korea."
