DeepSeek founder says China can end Nvidia dependence within a year
DeepSeek founder Liang Wenfeng said China’s AI industry is reaching a turning point in its dependence on Nvidia hardware and that chip supply will no longer be a key obstacle within a year. He cited a resource gap with the United States driven by computing power constraints. He said DeepSeek lags U.S. leaders by 12 to 18 months but achieves similar performance with far less computing. DeepSeek is working more closely with Huawei and pursuing its own chips and software tools.

Infinity raises $15 million for AI inference software at $100 million valuation
AI infrastructure startup Infinity has raised $15 million in funding at a valuation of $100 million. TechCrunch reported on July 20 that the round included Touring Capital, Principal VC, and researchers from OpenAI and Anthropic. Infinity is developing software to help AI chips run AI models more easily, with kernel software positioned as a possible replacement for Nvidia CUDA. It aims to build a universal inference library.

Why Korea\'s homegrown AI chips are not reaching market as software tool gaps hit on-device NPUs
Korea-made on-device AI semiconductors have reached global-level hardware performance but are failing to clear the commercialisation hurdle because of software barriers. Domestic NPU chips often drop out at the proof-of-concept stage because software development kits, compilers and related tools are not mature enough for customers to run them. Set makers say a lack of frameworks, profiling and debugging tools raises development costs, pushing them back toward Nvidia’s CUDA-based chips.
