T-Mobile completes world\'s first AI-RAN call on commercial 5G network

T-Mobile, working with Nokia and Nvidia, has completed what it called the world’s first AI-RAN call over a commercial 5G base station in Bellevue, Washington. The test linked T-Mobile’s live 5G standalone core network with a commercial smartphone using Nokia’s Massive MIMO gear and Nvidia’s Aerial RAN Computer platform. The companies did not disclose throughput, latency or spectrum-efficiency figures, leaving performance gains unconfirmed. Commercialisation and cost validation remain key tasks.

Nvidia tests technique to cut physical qubits needed for error correction by 90 percent

Nvidia carried out a 104-qubit quantum computing simulation on Germany’s Jupiter, Europe’s first exascale supercomputer, and tested a technique that could cut the physical-qubit resources required for error correction by 90 percent. The study focused on efficiently preparing magic states through Magic State Cultivation under noise conditions close to real quantum hardware. Nvidia used GH200-based systems and scaled workloads to 8,192 GPUs, with cuQuantum and CUDA-Q software platforms.
