A security vulnerability that cannot be patched has been disclosed in Apple’s A12 and A13 chips, drawing renewed attention to the potential for jailbreaking and further hacking research on older iPhones. Barcelona-based offensive cybersecurity firm Paradigm Shift released the flaw, dubbed “usbliter8,” along with proof-of-concept code and technical analysis. The issue resides in the BootROM, which runs first at startup and cannot be fixed through software updates, though exploitation requires physical access.

Whitebit has received approval under the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) rules from Austria’s Financial Market Authority, allowing it to provide regulated crypto services across the European Economic Area with a single licence. Cointelegraph reported the company will also launch a Europe-focused platform, WhitebitEU. The approval comes less than two weeks before the MiCA transition period ends on July 1, after which firms must hold a MiCA licence or stop serving EU customers.
