Meta floats VR glasses instead of headsets. Can they help mainstream VR?

Meta’s glasses-style VR device, Meta VR Glasses, is drawing attention as an alternative that could reduce the limits of goggle-type VR headsets and transparent AR glasses. The Verge said it is close to a first design that could persuade mainstream users to embrace VR again. The device combines a passthrough display with direct peripheral vision, weighs about 100 grams and costs $1,299. It also offers a 70 by 66 degree field of view and 37 ppd resolution.

Snap targets enterprise market with 3 million won AR glasses

Snap is working with Nvidia, AWS and Salesforce to develop enterprise augmented reality solutions built around its Specs AR glasses, priced at $2,195. CEO Evan Spiegel said Specs should be seen as a computer that can help workers check instructions hands-free, retrieve information and collaborate. Snap is also developing management and security features and unveiled Specs Intelligence, a personal AI service designed for iPhone, Mac and Specs.

Naver Labs unveils Kansong Museum VR tour to digitally preserve collection

Naver Labs has launched a virtual reality service that recreates the Kansong Art Museum’s exhibition spaces and cultural heritage as a digital twin, allowing viewing regardless of time and place. Naver Labs and the Kansong Art and Culture Foundation said the VR Tour lets users follow the museum’s visitor route, select exhibits and read descriptions via PC or mobile. It also preserves some artifacts digitally, including a stone lion statue donated to China in July.
