Corporate restructuring scheme opens path for mid-sized, SMEs into advanced industries

More mid-sized and small companies are entering advanced industries using South Korea’s corporate restructuring scheme. The Industry Ministry panel approved 31 firms in three rounds from December to July, with plans to invest 439.5 billion won over five years and hire 927 people. Many shift existing process technologies into new markets such as semiconductor glass substrates, AR modules and EV components. The ministry is offering investment-attraction consulting, while petrochemicals pursue capacity cuts through separate restructuring projects.

Apple revives health strategy in smartglasses after Vision Pro scrap

Apple is pushing plans to expand its in-development non-augmented reality smartglasses into a health and fitness platform, though such features are unlikely to be a focus in a first-generation product. Bloomberg\'s Mark Gurman said Apple is reviewing ways to revive health platform ideas it had explored for Vision Pro. Those plans were shelved due to the headset\'s weight. Possible approaches include combining workout-assist features and built-in heart-rate sensors, and using cameras to analyse movement.

Naver exports \'1784\' smart building technology to Japan mixed-use building for first time

Team Naver will apply its smart building operating technology from its \'1784\' headquarters to Tokyo Midtown Yaesu in central Tokyo with NTT East and Mitsui Fudosan. It is the first commercial export of the model it built and operated at 1784. The partners will launch a cloud-based autonomous robot delivery service using accumulated robot and spatial data. The project also uses digital twin and multi-robot control technologies.
