An incident occurred at Shinhan Bank in which some information related to loan recruitment was leaked, prompting the Financial Supervisory Service to launch an emergency on-site inspection.
The financial sector said on Wednesday it was identified that information related to loan recruitment was leaked at Shinhan Bank the previous day.
The possibility of a credential stuffing attack, in which leaked account information is repeatedly entered to log in to other websites, is being raised.
Financial authorities plan to hold a meeting on Wednesday morning to review the circumstances of the incident and the scale of any damage.
A Shinhan Bank official said, "In accordance with our notification obligation, we reported the related information leak yesterday. Authorities are conducting an on-site inspection today, and we plan to follow subsequent guidance."
