Moving fabs alone may not make South Korea\'s semiconductor relocation work, MPE ecosystem key

South Korea is pushing to disperse its semiconductor production base beyond the capital area, but simply moving fabs may deliver limited results, industry voices say. The government plans to allocate over 40 percent of its National Growth Fund to non-capital regions and offer special subsidies to relocating materials, parts and equipment firms. Officials also aim to build regional specialisation, but supply-chain depth, engineers’ response times, power costs and local settlement conditions are seen as decisive.

MegazoneCloud to work with Sungkyunkwan University anchor program to expand AI, quantum ecosystem

AI and cloud company MegazoneCloud said on July 15 it will work with Sungkyunkwan University’s regional growth talent development program, known as the Anchor Program, on industry-academia cooperation in AI and quantum fields. The two sides will build cooperation networks, train specialists, promote technology development and commercialisation, and support companies’ use of AI and quantum technologies. They will also run public basic AI-quantum education courses on July 20 and 21 with Seoul AI Hub.

Evernorth steps up Japan push as XRP faces institutional adoption test

Treasury firm Evernorth is stepping into Japan as it accelerates an XRP-based treasury strategy. It opened a Japan-focused X account and began local communication, saying Japan was an early supporter of XRP. The company said it will analyse market moves from its own perspective but will not discuss price. Evernorth is seeking more than $1 billion and plans a Nasdaq listing under the ticker XRPN, with SBI Holdings joining as a $200 million anchor investor.
