SK Broadband is running culture, arts and media experience programmes for children and teenagers, from music creation and K-pop dance to broadcast production.

SKB said on Sept. 24 it is holding the Blossom Youth Music Festival to support teenage creators, as well as the K-pop Children’s Culture and Arts Classroom and the Happiness Alliance School programme, a broadcast production experience course.

The Blossom Youth Music Festival is designed to discover teenage creators in the popular music field and support their creative work. It began in 2022 and is in its fifth edition this year.

A total of 142 teams from across the country took part in this year’s festival. After evaluation by a panel of professional judges and multi-AI screening, eight finalist teams joined a music camp held in July at the KT&G Sangsang Madang in Chuncheon, Gangwon, where they recorded original songs and received mentoring and career counselling from industry experts.

The final stage was held on Aug. 8 at CTS Art Hall in Dongjak district, Seoul. The finalist songs will be officially released on Oct. 3 through major domestic music platforms. SKB also supports participants with music recording and content production.

It is also providing culture and arts education for children. SKB is operating the K-pop Children’s Culture and Arts Classroom at elementary schools in Geumcheon and Yeongdeungpo districts with the Seoul Southern Office of Education and Love FNC.

Professional choreographers visit schools to teach K-pop choreography. In the first half, 211 students from seven classes at four schools, including Munseong, Yeongnam, Yeongrim and Dosin elementary schools, took part. The programme will continue in the second half.

It also runs career experience activities using broadcast production facilities at B tv regional channels. SKB invited local children in July to the B tv Incheon broadcast production site to take part in the Happiness Alliance School programme, which offers an experience of the news production process.

Participants used filming and editing equipment and divided roles such as producer, anchor and reporter to create a mock news programme. They also experienced equipment and studios used in actual broadcast production sites and looked at how news is produced.

Jong-ho Lee (이종호), head of SKB’s corporate centre, said, "I hope children discover their potential and build the power to communicate with the world through diverse cultural and artistic activities such as music, dance and media production." He added, "We will continue to support the growth of future generations by using media infrastructure and content capabilities."
