Samsung Electronics\' Galaxy Z8 gains traction as official sales begin in South Korea

Samsung Electronics will launch its Galaxy Z8 foldable smartphone series and Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Watch9 in South Korea on Aug. 7, the company said. The Galaxy Z8 series sold 1,440,000 units during a pre-order period from July 28 to Aug. 3, setting a record for Galaxy smartphones. About 7 in 10 pre-order customers chose the Galaxy Z Fold8. The devices feature updated displays, batteries and cameras, and buyers receive discount coupons and subscription benefits.

Google rolls out Gemini Spark AI agent for Chrome

Google has rolled out Gemini Spark, an AI agent that carries out web tasks inside the Chrome browser. Beyond answering questions, it can browse sites, compare prices, make reservations and fill out forms, and it can keep working in the background even if the Chrome window is closed. Use requires Windows 11 or macOS, a personal Google account, a Google AI Pro or Ultra subscription, and Safe Browsing set to Standard or Enhanced protection.

More than half of Galaxy Z8 preorders come from people in their 10s-30s; Fold8 most popular

More than half of customers who preordered Samsung Electronics\' new Galaxy Z8 series foldable phones were in their 10s to 30s, Samsung said. Among young customers, the Galaxy Z Fold8 was the most reserved model, with cream the most preferred color. Samsung is offering storage upgrades during the preorder period and highlighted stronger compatibility with other companies\' devices through features such as Smart Switch and Quick Share.
