Google is adding its AI image generation and editing tool Google Pix to Google Workspace. TechCrunch reported on Sept. 1 that Google Pix will be rolled out over the coming weeks to Workspace business customers and paid subscribers to Google AI Pro and Ultra.
Built on Google’s image generation model Nano Banana, Google Pix can be used for routine design tasks such as creating posters, social media posts, visual materials and illustrations.
It can be used similarly to Canva and Adobe Express, but works differently. Instead of designing from scratch, users enter prompts to produce results. It is also not a marketplace-style service where creators upload templates or graphics to earn revenue, like Canva.
It also supports editing. Users can isolate or transform specific objects in an image, and can edit or translate text within an image. Multiple people can edit together, and users can generate multiple images from the same request and then choose the most suitable result.
Google will integrate Google Pix features directly into Workspace. It will first apply them to Docs and Slides, and later expand them to Google Drive.
