Ryu Je-myung attends opening ceremony for AI Policy Center

Ryu Je-myung (류제명), second vice minister at South Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT, attended the opening ceremony of the AI Policy Center on Monday and encouraged officials. The center is a specialised body under the AI Basic Act, which took effect in January, and will handle work needed to develop AI-related policies and establish and spread international norms. Ryu called for the center to play a key role in linking policy and the field.

Kakao Compliance and Trust Committee holds 2026 workshop, checks affiliate compliance systems

Kakao\'s Compliance and Trust Committee, an independent body supporting compliance and trust management at Kakao affiliates, held a 2026 workshop on June 8 at Kakao\'s Pangyo office, it said on Monday. Five affiliated companies took part, with about 30 participants sharing compliance evaluation results and taking training tailored to the AI era. The committee also heard a lecture on issues and corporate response strategies tied to the AI Basic Act.

National AI Strategy Committee releases nine months of results in action plan and budget

South Korea\'s National Artificial Intelligence Strategy Committee on Sunday released key results since its launch in September. It said it became a statutory body in January after the AI Basic Act took effect and now runs 10 subcommittees, two special committees and a task force. The committee cited work including a government-wide AI action plan, responses to national issues, integrated disclosure of government AI budgets and deeper AI cooperation with the UAE.
