OpenAI completes appointment of local representative in South Korea

OpenAI has completed the appointment of a local representative in South Korea under the revised Personal Information Protection Act, officials said. The law requires overseas firms with a Korean unit to designate that unit as the local representative and disclose it in their privacy policy. OpenAI updated its Korea privacy policy on April 1. OpenAI also said it will follow obligations under the AI Basic Act, which requires a local representative and reporting to the science ministry.

Kakao to adopt Google DeepMind\'s SynthID to block AI deepfakes, false information

Kakao is partnering with Google DeepMind to apply the SynthID digital watermarking solution to its in-house AI model, Kanana, to improve transparency for AI-generated content and prevent misuse such as deepfakes.
