Shinhan Financial to cooperate with Visa on stablecoin and AI payments

Shinhan Financial Group will work with Visa on developing future financial services including stablecoin and AI-based payments. Shinhan Financial said it signed a strategic business agreement with Visa Group on Aug. 24 at its headquarters in central Seoul to pursue projects in digital assets, AI-based payments and B2B payments. The partners will cooperate on building infrastructure for stablecoin use and jointly design business models for Korea.

Quantum Reframing Challenge 2026 finals to be held in Seoul

South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT will hold the finals of the Quantum Reframing Challenge 2026 on Aug. 26 in Seoul. The event aims to redefine industrial and public-sector problems in forms suitable for quantum computers and verify solvability using real systems. From 73 teams that applied, 12 advanced to the finals. The top five teams will share 20 million won in prize money, with additional special awards and support opportunities.

Hekto Healthcare wins MFDS commissioner's award for probiotics R&D results

Hekto Healthcare said on Tuesday it received a commendation from the head of South Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety at the opening event of K-Health Conference 2026. The company was recognised for contributing to the development of the health functional food industry through probiotics research and functional ingredient development. It cited work with researcher Claudio De Simone and said its ingredients and products received individual recognition and approval from the ministry.
