Shinhan Bank marks second anniversary of SOL Travel check card with event
Shinhan Bank said on Thursday it will hold a customer appreciation event with CU convenience stores from Feb. 1 to 13 to mark the second anniversary of the launch of its SOL Travel check card. Customers who pay with the card and present a Pocket CU app QR code can buy Ferrero Rocher (3-piece) chocolate for 1,000 won each, about 70 percent off. The discount is limited to 4 times per person.

Amazon pursues major investment in OpenAI of up to $50 billion
OpenAI is seeking an additional $100 billion in funding at an estimated valuation of $830 billion. Amazon is likely to invest at least $50 billion in the round, TechCrunch reported, citing the Wall Street Journal. Negotiations are under way between Amazon CEO Andy Jassy and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. Middle Eastern sovereign wealth funds, Nvidia, Microsoft and SoftBank are also involved in investment talks.

LINE BK unveils 2026 business strategy, aims to be Thailand's everyday financial partner
Thailand mobile banking platform LINE BK on Friday released its 2025 results and 2026 business strategy. It said total customers topped 8.4 million at end-2025, up about 14 percent from a year earlier. Lending customers rose 20 percent to about 900,000 and loan balances exceeded 27 billion baht. For 2026, it plans to enhance banking, lending and insurance brokerage services, expand partnerships and keep the NPL ratio below 3 percent.
