Nearly half of people in their 20s and 30s use Upbit; cumulative members hit 13.26 million

More than 4 in 10 South Koreans in their 20s and 30s use crypto exchange Upbit, with cumulative membership topping 13 million, an infographic released by operator Dunamu showed. Upbit had 13.26 million cumulative members as of Dec. 22, after adding 1.1 million new users in 2025. Women accounted for 43.1 percent of new users, and people in their 50s made up 20 percent of new sign-ups. Ripple was the most-traded token in 2025.

KOSPI may attempt to break record high on first trading day of new year

South Korea's KOSPI is in focus on Jan. 2 as it opens the first trading day of the new year, with the index possibly attempting to set a new all-time high. The benchmark ended the previous session down 0.15 percent at 4,214.17 after a directionless session that at one point came within 0.39 points of the intraday record. Strong December exports may support gains despite recent U.S. market weakness.
