Kraken will launch perpetual futures trading services in the United States, The Block reported on June 15.
Kraken has completed its acquisition of Bitnomial and also received approval from the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) for domestic crypto derivatives trading.
The report said perpetual futures are derivatives that track price moves in assets such as bitcoin and ether without an expiry date. When futures prices diverge from spot prices, the gap is narrowed through funding rates.
U.S. users have struggled to access perpetual futures directly on platforms operating under regulation. They have used offshore exchanges while bearing regulatory uncertainty and counterparty risk.
Against this backdrop, Kraken completed its acquisition of Bitnomial, a CFTC-licensed exchange, clearinghouse and brokerage, in May.
The perpetual futures service will be available on Kraken Pro. Kraken previously acquired CFTC-registered NinjaTrader, launched Kraken Derivatives US in mid-2025, and introduced CME-listed bitcoin, ether and solana futures.
The CFTC last month approved Kalshi's listing of bitcoin perpetual futures (BTCPERP) and also approved Coinbase's perpetual futures-style 5-year long-dated futures in succession.
