Kakao unveils Korean-style hybrid AI, says it can think and double-check

Kakao on Jan. 5 unveiled the performance of its new in-house AI model, Kanana-v-4b-hybrid. Built on the open-source Kanana-1.5-v-3b, it is designed to handle casual conversation and tasks requiring logical reasoning. Kakao said the model uses a four-stage training process and a self-checking method to reduce hallucinations. It scored 92.8 on KoNET, and Kakao said it outperformed similarly sized global models in several areas.

JoyCity to attend Taipei Game Show 2026 to show Biohazard Survival Unit

JoyCity said on Jan. 5 it will attend Taipei Game Show 2026 in Taipei, Taiwan, on Jan. 29 to present its mobile strategy game Biohazard Survival Unit. The title is being co-developed with Aniplex based on Capcom's Biohazard intellectual property. JoyCity said it has expanded contact points with global users by attending the Tokyo Game Show and Brazil Game Show this year. It will run demo and photo programs for local visitors.

Rapolabs to hire about 50 across all roles, offers stock options up to 200 million won

Rapolabs, operator of the lifestyle platform Queenit for people in their 40s and 50s, said on Jan. 5 it will hire about 50 experienced workers across all functions. The recruitment is aimed at advancing a multichannel strategy for lifestyle commerce. Roles span tech and business organizations, including server and front-end, machine learning and data analysis engineering, as well as commerce strategy, business development, marketing and HR. Successful hires will receive stock options worth up to 200 million won.
