KOSPI reclaims 5,800 on hopes U.S.-Iran ceasefire holds; Kosdaq also rises

South Korea's KOSPI opened up more than 1 percent on Thursday on expectations that a ceasefire between the United States and Iran will hold. The benchmark index recovered the 5,800 level, led by gains in semiconductor shares. Individuals were net buyers, while foreigners and institutions sold. Most top market-cap stocks rose, including Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix. The Kosdaq also gained, and the won weakened against the dollar.
