[Digital Today reporter Sangyeop Oh] Dunamu, which operates the digital asset exchange Upbit, said on April 10 it will implement a five-step plan to cut energy use to join the government’s energy-saving policy.

The plan consists of encouraging employees to take part in a national energy-saving campaign, operating a five-day vehicle rationing system, complying with government guidance when running heating and cooling, cutting standby power from power strips and partially restricting elevator operations.

Dunamu will first promote a recently announced government poster for a national energy-saving campaign and encourage employee participation. It will also recommend using public transportation through a five-day vehicle rationing system, excluding eco-friendly vehicles, vehicles carrying pregnant women or infants and vehicles for disabled people.

It will also implement energy-saving measures in office space. The company plans to turn off unnecessary lighting during times when offices are empty, such as lunch hours, or in non-work areas. When operating heating and cooling, it will follow government-recommended standards of 20 degrees Celsius for heating and 26 degrees Celsius for cooling to minimise energy consumption.

When leaving work, employees will cut power to power strips at their desks to reduce standby power use. Elevators in the building will also be operated on a limited basis, except during periods of heavy use such as commuting hours.

A Dunamu official said, "These measures are intended to join the government’s resource security crisis response policy amid a global energy crisis and to strengthen corporate-level efforts to reduce energy use." The official added, "We will continue to expand various energy-saving measures and actively respond to government policy."
