Spring creator unveils Embabel Java AI agent framework, aims to rival Python tools
Rod Johnson, creator of the Spring Java development framework, introduced Embabel, a Java-based agent AI framework, at Microsoft’s JDConf developer conference. The Apache-licensed open-source framework is available on GitHub. Built on Spring Boot and written in Kotlin, it is fully compatible with Java. Johnson said Embabel aims to address predictability issues companies face in AI by balancing generative AI with more predictable Java code, using the GOAP pathfinding algorithm.

Meta to deploy millions of AWS Graviton CPUs to handle AI agent workloads
Meta has signed a deal to adopt millions of Graviton CPUs developed by Amazon Web Services, TechCrunch reported on April 24. Graviton is an Arm-based CPU, and demand for CPUs is rising as AI agents handle compute-intensive tasks such as real-time inference, coding, search and multistep coordination after model training. Amazon also has its Trainium AI GPUs, and Anthropic secured significant volumes after committing to spend $100 billion on AWS over 10 years.

Nvidia shares closed at a record high on April 24, pushing the company’s market value above $5 trillion, CNBC reported. The stock ended up 4.3 percent at $208.27. The rise was seen as driven by growing expectations for investment in AI chips ahead of big tech companies’ earnings next week. Semiconductor shares also rose, led by Intel’s 24 percent jump after results beat expectations.
