[DigitalToday reporter Daegeon Seok] SK Hynix labor and management have redrawn a tentative agreement that had been rejected by restructuring the performance bonus payment scheme. Labor and management said they prepared a revised tentative agreement and will hold an interim union delegates meeting on Sept. 10, followed by a vote of union members on Sept. 15-16.

A change in the basic bonus payout ratio is the main point of the revision. The previous deal called for 40 percent in cash and 60 percent in stock, but it has been adjusted to 50 percent cash and 50 percent stock. It is the result of a fresh adjustment to the bonus payment method in the agreement that was rejected in a member vote with 50.08 percent voting against it.

The revision also strengthens members' choice by allowing employees to select the stock portion from 50 percent up to 100 percent in 10 percent increments. To reduce confusion from the shift in the payout method, the company decided to pay in advance an amount that had been set to be deferred and paid in two parts next year and the year after, from bonuses based on last year's results.

Eligibility criteria for housing loan support have also been widened. Under the existing scheme, additional support beyond basic support was limited to married households, but single-parent families have been newly included. The company said the move is intended to support work-life balance.

The revised plan was prepared again after the previous deal was rejected in a member vote on Aug. 25, with 50.08 percent (7,535 people) against and 49.92 percent (7,510 people) in favor. The margin was just 25 votes and turnout reached 93.81 percent. After the rejection, labor and management entered renegotiations centered on the bonus payment method, leading to the revised agreement.
