Agent banking is coming; Webcash says bank competition to intensify next year

B2B fintech firm Webcash is moving to secure solutions for the emerging era of AI agent banking, which it sees as a core axis of next-generation financial competition. At a conference in Seoul, it unveiled the architecture and use cases of OPERIA, an engine that connects general-purpose AI with banks’ relational databases. Webcash said internal tests showed 99 percent accuracy in its cash management solution and introduced a V2 cash management agent expanding coverage to about 800 customers.

South Korea privacy watchdog sanctions 3 firms, including Duo, for failing data security measures

South Korea's Personal Information Protection Commission held its seventh plenary meeting on April 22 and decided to sanction three companies for violating personal data protection rules. It imposed a total of 4.79 billion won in penalty surcharges and 17.4 million won in administrative fines, and ordered corrective measures and public disclosure. The sanctioned firms were KS Korea Employment Information, Duo Information and Geumneung Park Cemetery, which suffered data leaks after inadequate security and processed resident registration numbers without legal grounds.

Dunamu joins presidential economic mission to Vietnam to step up digital asset infrastructure exports

Dunamu, operator of digital asset exchange Upbit, has joined President Lee Jae-myung’s economic delegation for his state visit to India and Vietnam, industry officials said. Vice chairman Kim Hyung-nyeon is scheduled to attend a Korea-Vietnam business forum and meet Vietnam’s Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank to discuss cooperation on building a digital asset exchange. The company is seen as pursuing an export model for exchange systems, security and operational know-how.
