KT penalty fee waiver spurs 30,000 users to switch, 70 percent choose SKT

About 30,000 KT subscribers moved to other carriers or budget mobile operators over three days after KT began waiving early termination fees, industry data showed. A total of 31,634 users left from Dec. 31 to Jan. 2, with 26,192 choosing rival operators. Of those, 18,720 switched to SK Telecom and 7,272 to LG Uplus. Industry players cite SKT’s subscriber acquisition policies and limited perceived benefits of KT’s compensation package.
