Digital asset institutionalisation picks up pace as big platforms clash over entry into online lending industry
Cooperation between traditional financial firms and crypto-asset operators is expanding, with moves by Kakao Group, brokerages and exchanges. In the United States, the OCC gave preliminary approval to two digital banks pursuing crypto custody and stablecoin business. In South Korea, the Democratic Party plans to draw up a Digital Asset Basic Act this year. Competition is also shifting across platform finance, raising questions about entry rules, conflicts of interest, consumer choice and security.

Dunamu teams up with Seoul National University to support young startups
Dunamu said it is partnering with Seoul National University’s business school to foster young startups by providing workspace and management mentoring for early-stage companies. The operator of digital asset exchange Upbit opened the SNU x UPbit Startup Studio and held a welcome day event on Sept. 10. Seven companies were selected through screening. Dunamu will provide startup infrastructure free of charge for up to two years and run a Value UP support program.

Mad Engine named top Korean job creation company for second straight year
Mad Engine was recognised in a government evaluation of jobs and employment after expanding hiring alongside new game development projects. The Wemade Max unit was selected as a “2026 대한민국 일자리 으뜸기업” and received certification for a second consecutive year, it said on Thursday. Co-CEO Son Myun-seok won a presidential citation under a government awards programme for contributions to job creation.
