Krafton will refurbish PCs and laptops that are no longer used in-house and donate 351 sets to local communities this year.
Krafton said on Tuesday it is running a refurbished IT device donation programme with the Korea IT Welfare Promotion Agency.
It recently worked with the Seoul Welfare Council to deliver 110 sets of desktops and laptops to six social welfare institutions in Seongdong-gu. It also held a handover ceremony on Oct. 19 at Seoul Welfare Town.
On Sept. 28, it supported 71 sets to 27 locations in the Yongin area, including local children's centres and youth shelters, through the Yongin Welfare Council. A total of 181 sets has been delivered to 33 institutions so far this year.
The remaining 170 sets are due to be delivered in December to local children's centres in Gimje and Jeongeup cities and Jinan county in North Jeolla Province.
The Korea IT Welfare Promotion Agency is responsible for refurbishing the devices. Local welfare councils check demand by institution and select recipients, and refurbished products are supplied in the types and quantities needed.
Krafton has run the programme since 2023. It supported 766 sets to institutions in Gyeonggi, Busan, Daejeon, Seoul and North Jeolla Province from 2023 to 2025, and cumulative support will reach 1,117 sets once the planned units for this year are all delivered.
It also tallied the environmental impact from recycling discarded electrical and electronic products. A total of 25,410 kg of products was collected and recycled from 2023 to 2025, and the estimated greenhouse gas reduction was about 53 tons using a calculation method applied by the Korea Environment Corporation.
Lee Jin-ho (이진호), head of Krafton's CSR team, said, "We will continue the programme with local communities so that we can support children and teenagers' learning and activities by reusing IT devices that have reached the end of use."
