Hana Financial Group valued the social impact created through its environmental, social and governance (ESG) management activities in 2025 at 6.86 trillion won. That was up 24 percent from a year earlier, and inclusive finance alone accounted for 1.41 trillion won of impact, it calculated.
Hana Financial Group said on Oct. 29 it published its 2025 ESG Impact Report, which converts its 2025 ESG management performance into monetary value.
Hana Financial has disclosed the social impact of its ESG activities in monetary terms since 2021. This report analysed results from 523 projects carried out by 15 affiliates and six foundations across the group.
The ESG impact in 2025 was 6.86 trillion won, up 24 percent from 2024's 5.54 trillion won. Over the same period, the number of projects measured rose to 523 from 468.
By category, the calculated social value came to 302.0 billion won for environment (E), 3.48 trillion won for social (S), and 3.09 trillion won for governance (G) and economic contribution.
The report introduced key results centred on four core themes: climate finance, growth-support finance, inclusive finance and social contribution.
In particular, impact generated in inclusive finance was calculated at 1.41 trillion won. Support for low-income and vulnerable groups accounted for 1.30 trillion won, the largest share, followed by 20.7 billion won for financial support for small business owners, 20.1 billion won for management and capability support for small business owners, and 70.1 billion won for improving financial access.
In climate finance, the report introduced a case in which financial support for renewable energy power generation projects created an impact of 205.7 billion won.
In growth-support finance, it measured an impact of 62.3 billion won in representative cases including liquidity supply to export supply-chain companies and investments in innovative startups. Hana Financial provides funding to exporters and small and medium-sized companies and supports innovative startups with investment, mentoring and consulting.
In social contribution, it valued the impact at 306.0 billion won through childcare support such as building daycare centres and providing care services. Key cases also included social job creation projects that support youth entrepreneurship, re-employment for middle-aged workers and self-reliance for people with disabilities.
A Hana Financial official said, "We precisely measured the tangible changes made to the real economy and society at large through our core financial business, beyond the simple amount invested." The official added, "We will continue to expand the creation of sustainable social value."
