Korean media fall behind global platforms; original content expansion urged
A study found the overall competitiveness of South Korea\'s major media services is lower than that of global platforms, and called for narrowing gaps in capital and content investment and integrating fragmented domestic platforms. In a survey of 32 experts, 93.8 percent agreed Korean media services face a crisis from competition with global platforms. User surveys showed domestic paid OTT services were seen at 57 to 73 percent of Netflix’s competitiveness, with expanding original content cited as the top priority.

SK Telecom, KT and LG Uplus will work with the government to expand next-generation network investment to respond to the AI era and form a public-private consultative body to discuss investment and telecoms regulatory improvements. Deputy Prime Minister and Science Minister Baeh Kyung-hoon said telecoms should transform into AI infrastructure and platform companies. The ministry plans a comprehensive policy package, while the carriers will expand membership benefits and provide temporary plan perks for youth and vulnerable groups.

U.S. used electric vehicle prices rise, holders gain and buyers face higher costs
Used electric vehicle prices in the United States are rising again this year. Recurrent calculated prices have climbed 5.1 percent since January, with vehicles priced below $20,000 up 9.4 percent from January to June. Several models posted gains, while used EVs above $40,000 continued to fall. The market is also seeing stronger sales, with second-quarter used EV volume exceeding 128,000 vehicles, and gasoline prices are cited as a factor supporting demand.
