One-third of global Wi-Fi networks still on Wi-Fi 4, limiting speeds of latest phones
About one-third of Wi-Fi networks worldwide still rely on Wi-Fi 4, a standard introduced in 2009, a survey showed. Ookla said 33.2 percent of global Wi-Fi networks use Wi-Fi 4-based equipment, while Wi-Fi 5 accounts for 38.3 percent and Wi-Fi 6 for 26.7 percent. Wi-Fi 7 stands at 1.8 percent. Older routers cannot use the 6 GHz band, which can worsen congestion and performance in dense areas.

Hanwha Vision supports AI security cameras for facility for disabled infants and toddlers
Hanwha Vision said on Monday it launched a corporate social responsibility project, Vision Zone, to support safety infrastructure such as AI security cameras at residential facilities for disabled infants and toddlers. The first beneficiary is Choroknamu, a facility in Changwon, South Gyeongsang province, home to about 40 infants, toddlers and children with intellectual, developmental and brain lesion disabilities. The support includes about 30 cameras, storage devices and monitors, with free maintenance without a time limit.

Tapo launches outdoor security camera kit combining solar charging and 4G LTE
TP-Link smart home brand Tapo has officially launched its pan-and-tilt security camera kit, the Tapo C615G KIT, in South Korea, it said on Wednesday. The kit combines solar charging with 4G LTE connectivity to support remote monitoring regardless of internet or power infrastructure, the company said. It works with a domestic carrier USIM card and uses a 2.5 watt solar panel and a 6,700 mAh built-in battery. It also includes AI-based detection.
