Hanwha Vision said on Monday it launched Vision Zone, a corporate social responsibility project that supports safety infrastructure such as AI security cameras at residential facilities for disabled infants and toddlers. The first beneficiary is Choroknamu in Changwon, South Gyeongsang province, where about 40 infants, toddlers and children live with intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities and brain lesion conditions, among others. The facility, operated by Haegang Welfare Foundation, received about 30 cameras and a full security system including storage devices and monitors.
Vision Zone was planned to build security systems for community welfare facilities where safety infrastructure is relatively weak. Residential facilities for disabled infants and toddlers are mostly located on the outskirts of cities, and many often lack response systems for unexpected situations such as leaving the facility or outside intrusion. Hanwha Vision plans to raise safety in the children's living environment through the support.
AI cameras with fall detection and wandering detection functions were deployed as key equipment in the project. The cameras also support privacy masking to protect personal information, and filming is limited to shared spaces to protect children's privacy. Maintenance will be provided free of charge with no time limit. Hanwha Vision said the aim is to provide long-term support for facility operations rather than one-off assistance.
Hanwha Vision previously took part last year in the Hanwha Group's integrated tech-and-life project called Monthly Han Mogeum. The initiative is a corporate social responsibility program that supports medical expenses for families with disabled children who urgently need treatment, and supported 45 children with disabilities and rare diseases from September 2024 to April this year.
Hanwha Vision plans to expand Vision Zone to vulnerable groups with weak safety protection in various regions, starting with the latest support. A Hanwha Vision official said, "It is meaningful that the company's advanced technology can help children grow up in a safer environment," adding, "We will continue various corporate social responsibility activities that can contribute to society."
