TP-Link smart home brand Tapo said on Wednesday it has officially launched the pan-and-tilt security camera kit “Tapo C615G KIT” in South Korea, supporting solar charging and 4G LTE connectivity.
The company said the Tapo C615G KIT combines solar charging with an LTE network to support remote monitoring regardless of whether internet and power infrastructure is available.
The Tapo C615G KIT supports 4G LTE connectivity that can be used immediately by inserting a domestic carrier USIM card, allowing operation in locations where Wi-Fi or wired internet installation is difficult. It enables real-time video checks via a wireless connection in environments where installing conventional security cameras was difficult due to Wi-Fi signal issues, such as country homes, farms, outdoor warehouses and construction sites.
The Tapo C615G KIT uses a charging method that leverages a solar panel, allowing long-term use without a separate power outlet. Based on a 2.5 watt solar panel and a 6,700 mAh built-in battery, it minimizes the maintenance burden, and users can position the camera without installing wires.
It also includes AI-based detection features. The Tapo C615G KIT recognizes and distinguishes among people, pets and vehicles to reduce unnecessary alerts and sends notifications only when needed.
A Tapo official said, “The Tapo C615G KIT is a fully wireless security camera that does not require Wi-Fi or power installation, and its strength is that a security system can be built with just a single unit.” The official added, “It is a solution that provides stable security in various environments such as farmland, construction sites and outdoor warehouses, where installing conventional CCTV was difficult.”
