Chinese-made humanoid robot appears at parliament audit; Bae says physical AI core is software

A Chinese-made humanoid robot appeared at a South Korean parliamentary audit and danced during a demonstration. Deputy Prime Minister and Science Minister Bae Kyung-hoon said the core of physical AI competitiveness lies in AI software capabilities such as data and robot foundation models. UBTech launches factory producing 1 humanoid robot every 10 minutes, targeting 10,000 a year

China\'s UBTech has started operating a smart factory capable of producing 1 humanoid robot every 10 minutes, aiming for annual capacity of 10,000 units. The facility in Liuzhou, Guangxi, makes the Walker S and Cruiser series and uses humanoid robots, autonomous vehicles and collaborative robots across production and logistics. Finished robots undergo more than four hours of testing and 360-degree inspection. UBTech also built an automated 3D warehouse.

Shares of China humanoid robot maker Unitree Robotics fell below 500 yuan on Sept. 10, extending a sharp pullback about three weeks after its listing. Its market value has dropped by more than 240 billion yuan from its peak after an initial surge that briefly lifted its market capitalisation to about 445 billion yuan. Despite the fall, the stock still trades above its IPO price. Regulators are also seen tightening scrutiny of humanoid robot IPOs.
