National Radio Research Agency marks 60th anniversary, boosts 6G and quantum communications research
South Korea\'s National Radio Research Agency is marking its 60th anniversary by strengthening research into next-generation radio technologies such as 6G, terahertz and quantum communications. It also plans to advance AI-based frequency interference analysis and electromagnetic-wave forecasting technologies, and focus on preparing proactive systems to respond to technological change. The agency held a commemorative ceremony on July 29 at its campus in the Gwangju-Jeonnam joint innovation city.

Quantum Korea 2026 to bring global quantum technology together
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT will hold Quantum Korea 2026 from July 2 to 4 at Dongdaemun Design Plaza in Seoul. The event will bring together governments, researchers and quantum companies to share technology and policy. Participants include 56 companies and institutions from 12 countries, such as IBM, IonQ, Quandela and PASQAL. Exhibits and talks will cover quantum computing, communications and sensing, alongside an international conference and public programmes.

Govt unveils \'K-Palantir\' strategy, targets five unicorns by 2030
South Korea\'s Ministry of SMEs and Startups, the Defence Ministry and the Korea Aerospace Administration said they will foster five new security companies valued at 1 trillion won or more and 50 innovation firms with sales of at least 100 billion won by 2030. The government plans to designate strategic areas such as drones, defence AI and semiconductors, space and cyber security. It will also revamp procurement, expand R&D funding and set up a Korea-style In-Q-Tel.
